Congrats on the upcoming wedding! :) I got the gel at Joann Fabrics, but I'm pretty sure Michael's and Hobby Lobby have it too. Any of those nearby?

Where do you find the coloring gel? I would love to try and make these for our wedding rehearsal dinner but live in a small town and am not quite sure where to find it. You help would be greatly appreciated!

This recipe was a favorite of mine when I was 5 years old (1955) We always used to make it to put on homemade ice cream. My Grandpa made his own maple sugar each winter/spring.... Thanks for the memories!

I am POSITIVE that y'all know more about gardening than I do. ;) It just washes off in rain (or if, say, your five year old is watering the garden with a hose... just for example), and I haven't noticed any ill effects photosynthesis-wise.

I believe the consensus on here is that because this isn't a canning-specific recipe with the appropriate acid requirements this recipe is better suited for pressure canning.

If you really want to put a nice twist on this recipe, put the tomatoes, onions, garlic and pepers on a foil sheet and place in smoker for 3 hours, I use Pecan wood for a smooth smoke flavor. I cant keep the stuff in house..Plus, I also make and fry my own chips.
